this just in

Since my last post I have had many thoughts. However, on this gorgeous November afternoon, only one is uppermost in my brain:

If you were to introduce one food, only ONE food, to a visiting alien who had never tasted the culinary delights of earth, what would you give it?

my first thought is SALSA!!!!
there are so many different kinds!
I can make about six different kinds that I learned in Mexico and there are many more besides that!!!
of course then you have to have something to put the salsa on....
chips, burritos, tacos, chicken, beef, in soup, on toasted cheese sandwiches, tostados, other sandwiches.....I guess I didn't really answer the question the way you wanted :)

my other thought is strawberries!!

I think some sort of Indian food would be the way to go. I don't know the dishes well enough to name one in particular, but the combination of sweet, spice, hot, cool flavors is fascinating to me.

For instance, Tracie found a good recipe that combines curry, chicken, rice, carrots, coconut milk, and peppers. Delicious and so many converging flavors!

If they're nice aliens (like E.T.) I give 'em the A1 peppercorn burger from Red Robin. If they're mean aliens (like just about every other movie about aliens) I give 'em overcooked broccoli. If they're ALF, I give 'em cats (because ALF eats cats).

You guys are awesome. I think I would give mr. alien a pomegranate. I was thinking this morning about how ridiculous a pomegranate looks . . . it seems to me the most "alien" of the world's foods, right next to popcorn.

This is such an impossible question!! Especially with dreams of holidays so near. I've been thinking of your inquiry for at least 10 minutes, and there is no end in sight...

2 things, Rice and warm, fresh baked bread. Without which the whole of human existence would be altered.
